The go-ahead's also been given to the extension of the temporary measure for five subs per game rather than three - brought in due to the Covid-19-related fixture congestion.
The English Premier League's expected to introduce the system as soon as possible.
The changes do not make provision for temporary concussion substitutes which some in the game have called for as a way for players to have more time to be checked out before returning.
