Auckland council will be on the sidelines of the decision making table at Ihumatao

A deal has finally been struck, with the government buying the land for 30 million dollars off Fletcher Building.
It comes after months of talks between Kingitanga, representing mana whenua, and the Crown.
Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says they're happy to provide support going forward.
He says both parties have asked council to be an observer on the steering group -- which will be set up to determine the future land use.
