The land has been purchased off Fletcher Building for just under 30 million dollars.
Kingitanga and the Crown, along with support from Auckland Council, will decide the land's future use.
The Deputy Prime Minister says it will involve some form of housing.
Maori political commentator Rawiri Taonui says despite there being differences between the groups to sort out -- a resolution can be found.
He says everyone has respect for Kingitanga, so a solution can be found in a couple of years -- rather than five.
