National's welcoming the Government's move to introduce pre-departure Covid-19 testing

Covid-19 response minister Chris Hipkins has announced they're looking at testing travellers from the UK before they get on the plane.
It could come into effect from mid-January.
National's Covid-19 response spokesperson Chris Bishop says National, and many public health experts, have been calling for this along with a dedicated border agency since at least August.
He says it has taken the Government quite some time to get to this point - but he thinks it needs to go further and be for everyone coming into New Zealand.
