National's accusing the government for lack of action -- as Police attend more mental health incidents

Recent reports to the new Police Minister shows this year, Police received nearly 60-thousand mental health call outs.
National's Mental Health spokesperson, Matt Doocey says it's a 30 per cent increase since his party's Mental Health Co-response proposal was axed.
The programme would've seen a mental health professional paired up with ambulance, Police and fire to go to these callouts.
He says the Police do a lot of great work, but they're not necessarily the best agency to respond to a mental health crisis.
