320 people lost their lives on our roads in 2020 -- 32 less than the year before.
The New Zealand Transport Agency believes it's lower due to people travelling less for several weeks during the lockdown.
Senior Manager of Road Safety Fabian Marsh says they want to see a reduction in deaths and serious injuries by 40 percent over the next 10 years.
He says they'll work to improve safety of roads and roadsides, improving vehicle safety and leading a new approach to speed management.
