Politicians are being warned to take a step back from the stand-off at Waikeria Prison

Sixteen inmates are into their sixth day of rioting.
Negotiation tactics have so far failed -- MP Rawiri Waititi spoke with the prisoners at their request on Thursday -- but to no avail.
National's Taranaki-King Country MP Barbara Kuriger and Corrections spokesman Simeon Brown were turned away yesterday.
But Maori Council Executive Director Matthew Tukaki says there's no need to turn up at the front-gate.
He says it's a complex matter, and we can play politics with until the cows come home - but ONLY once the incident is resolved.
