Three people have been jointly charged after a gang shooting in North Canterbury, where the son of a Mongrel Mob leader was seriously injured

Fairmont Wiringi is in Christchurch Hospital after being shot about 3.30am yesterday in Kaiapoi.

Woodend man Mokonuiarangi Chong has pleaded not guilty after being charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of a knife.

Jarrad Singer faces the same charges, but was also shot, and didn't appear in court in person.

The third accused Tove Paranihi will appear in court later today.
