The group of children, aged between 12 and 14, have been arrested in relation to at least three robberies after a lengthy early morning chase in a stolen car.
The chase involved the police Eagle helicopter, before spikes were used to bring the car to a halt.
Sensible Sentencing Trust co-leader Darroch Ball says the youths should have been at home and their parents have some explaining to do.
The four children are in custody and will face charges of burglary and aggravated burglary.
