Hailee Steinfeld admitted she wants to be "more present and mindful" in her personal life in 2021
The 24-year-old star has reflected on the way the pandemic has given her pause for thought and a chance to reflect on the balance between her career and home life
13 January 2021
She told Extra: "I think if this year has taught me anything it's, my God, just how grateful I am. My appreciation for the people in my life, the people around me, has grown so much.
"I've had more time - obviously we all have had this time that we've sorta been forced to sit with ourselves to think, maybe overthink, reflect on life for a moment.
"I feel like I've learned what it means to be present and mindful in my personal life. I feel like I've always been that with my work and my life is just always on the go.
"My intention for the New Year is just to be more present and mindful in my personal life and take care of myself properly."
The actress and singer turned 24 last month, and revealed her birthday celebrations - like so many people around the world - were much more lowkey thanks to the impact of the global health crisis.
Asked how she marked the occasion, she added: "I had a lot of FaceTime calls. I was working thankfully, so I always feel like that's a good thing to be doing on your birthday, right?
"Really grateful to be working, but I was actually doing a night shoot - it felt like the longest birthday ever... I worked through the night of my birthday, woke up - it was weird.
"Anyway - it was a great birthday. I spoke with a lot of my friends, of course, on FaceTime and felt very loved and celebrated at a distance, which was great."
