Kieran Withers has been sentenced in the Christchurch District Court today for obtaining money by deception, and dishonest use of a document.
He took more than 32 thousand dollars from nine victims over 19 months, using aliases.
It included posing as a lawyer to job applicants.
More than 29 thousand remains outstanding.
Other victims were Uber and taxi drivers and an elderly woman.
Judge Paul Kellar says Withers displayed greed and selfishness, and used sophisticated techniques to defraud people.
