It's been an anxiety-ridden summer break for tertiary teachers..

The Tertiary Education Union reports universities are threatening more job cuts in the financial fall-out of Covid-19.

It comes despite repeated reminders from the Education Minister for universities to lean on their reserves instead.

But union president Tina Smith says the sector isn't listening.

She says they're sacrificing the opportunity for students to have the courses and expertise to create a better future.
