See a GP before your injury or illness becomes a hospital admission

That's the message from the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists after a surge in Auckland hospital admissions over summer.
Middlemore has had a 28 per cent rise compared to this time last year, and Auckland City Hospital has admitted 24 more patients than usual every day since December.
Association Executive director Sarah Dalton says improving access to GPs will relieve pressure on acute services.
She says if more people get earlier treatment when they're less sick, it's less expensive for the system overall.
