It's one of two squads named by Cricket Australia, with a 19-strong group announced for a test series to be played in South Africa concurrently - pending Covid travel approval.
The newcomers in the T20 squad are Sydney Sixers Big Bash opener Josh Philippe , Hobart paceman Riley Mereidth and teenage legspinner Tanveer Sangha from the Sydney Thunder.
Matthew Wade has also been relegated to the short-form squad, axed from the test squad after poor returns against India.
Predictably missing from the tour of New Zealand are the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins who have been named in the test squad.
