The Black Caps batsman's smacked 65 off 36 balls to lead his side to 183 for six against the Canterbury Kings in Napier, before restricting the visitors to 153 for seven.
That sees them move into second on 24 points, tied with the now-third-placed Kings, with the fourth-placed Northern Knights now eight back with only four on offer.
The defending champion Wellington Firebirds lead on 32 points and also have a game in hand.
The women's competition finals won't be confirmed until the last game of the season.
Canterbury's top of the table after beating Central by 30 runs, bowling out the Hinds for 107 after posting 137 for five.
However second-placed Wellington are away to third-placed Auckland tomorrow.
