Police have arrested one person for failing to stop at a checkpoint south of Auckland, and aren't ruling out charges

The 26-year-old allegedly kept going at the Mercer Checkpoint on State Highway One - and was arrested some time later when they stopped in Hamilton.
Just over 14-thousand vehicles were processed at 11 checkpoints, between midnight Sunday and four yesterday afternoon, .
At southern checkpoints, 779 were turned away, out of more than eight-thousand-six-hundred vehicles.
At northern checkpoints, more than five-thousand-five-hundred vehicles passed through, with 715 turned back.
