Exhausted doctors are losing touch with the feelings of their patients

The suggestion's being made in a study published in today's New Zealand Medical Journal.
Researchers have found about 45 percent of nearly 200 senior medical officers, are experiencing high levels of personal burnout.
Otago University Professor Frank Frizelle says it's a very high rate as these are senior specialists in the public sector.
He says it's clear that doctors with higher burnout levels have less empathy with their patients.
