Plea for women not to delay their mammograms
A plea for women not to delay their mammograms... as a possible side effect of the Covid-19 vaccine may mimic breast cancer symptoms
20 February 2021
Auckland border and MIQ staff are lining up today to get the first batch of the Pfizer vaccine.
Data from the United States shows about 15 per cent of patients who got the vaccine developed swollen lymph nodes, which can be mistaken for a sign of breast cancer.
Medical advisor to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ Dr Monica Saini says if people are having a mammogram close after their vaccine, they should let their doctor know they've had the jab.
She says if they have a correlation between the two, they don't have to worry that it's breast cancer and know there's a cause.
