Canoe Racing New Zeland chief executive Tom Ashley reckons pushing back the national canoe sprint championships will help our top athletes leading into the Tokyo Olympics

The regatta was due to take place this weekend, but has since been rescheduled to begin on May 14 at Lake Karapiro.
Ashley says Tokyo was one of the factors considered when finding a new date.
He says May fits in well with the rhythm of the season.
