A young man remains in Auckland City Hospital following a firearms incident last night

Emergency services were called to Cadness Reserve, in Northcote, about 7 o'clock following reports of gun shots.

Police say the youth is in a stable condition, and they're seeking information connected to the incident.

Police say initial inquiries indicate a large number of youths were at the reserve earlier in the evening.

They want to speak to those people and anyone who may have witnesses the incident.

Anyone with information should call 105 .
