Ellie Goulding wears her husband’s coat outside to conceal her baby bump

The 34-year-old singer is currently expecting her first child with her spouse Caspar Jopling, and has said she found it easy to hide her baby bump from the public before she was ready to announce the happy news, because she’s spent most of her time at home during lockdown

However, when the ‘Burn’ hitmaker does need to venture outside, she admitted she takes Caspar’s oversized coat to keep her figure concealed.

Speaking to ‘Sunday Brunch’, she said: “It's different ... I stole my husband's coat for about six months. But that was really just in the shops, I didn’t go anywhere else. Out on walks, I just kept it covered up. It wasn’t really that hard, though, because of lockdown, I haven’t really seen anyone.”

Ellie revealed she is expecting a baby in stunning photos taken for Vogue magazine earlier this week, and said she has loved being able to watch her bump grow whilst staying at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

She revealed: "Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but] - I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it."

The ‘Hate Me’ singer also said there have been many challenges caused by the government's restrictions on contact with other family members and friends.

She added: "You have your partner, and you have your friends, but in a pandemic, it can feel particularly lonely.

"Because it wasn’t something I had planned for right now, [and] I knew it was a more solitary journey because of what’s going on. I think that made me keep it very secretive and made me very protective over it. The sickness and tiredness was nothing I’d ever experienced before. I feel like it’s a taboo to talk about pregnancy as being challenging. It’s not always serene and like you’re not always glowing. I’m not saying that every second of this pregnancy has been miserable. It’s not always going to be easy. I have a newfound respect for any woman who has children.”
