Josh O'Connor thanked 'Crown' co-stars for an acting "masterclass" as he picked up Best Performance Golden Globe by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama

The 30-year-old actor admitted it was "quite a surprise" to take the gong ahead of Jason Bateman ('Ozark'), Bob Odenkirk ('Better Call Saul'), Al Pacino ('Hunters') and Matthew Rhys ('Perry Mason') before going on to pay tribute to everyone who worked on the Netflix regal drama

He said: "Hello everyone, wow, that’s quite a surprise. Thank you so much to everyone who makes the crown what it is. I’ve had the time of my life making this show.

Thank you to everyone at Netflix, producers, director, our brilliant writers and creator Peter Morgan. To our incredible cast, every day working with you was a masterclass."

He went on to single out Emma Corrin, who scooped the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama honour earlier in the evening, and praised his "extraordinary" co-star.

He said: "To Emma Corrin – best actress winner – you’re extraordinary, talented, funny, and a brilliant player of rock, paper scissors.

    I love you to bits."

After hailing his fellow nominees his "heroes" and thanking his family, Josh ended his speech with an appeal to support those who are struggling with their mental health amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: "I’m very lucky to be able to work in this period and there are so many who are unable to work and are alone and isolated and I hope we can collectively put mental health to the forefront of our minds, thank you so much.”
