Auckland's mayor is hoping a record investment in transport projects will help clear a backlog is issues in the region

The Government's announced a 31-billion-dollar, 10-year package for the Auckland Transport Alignment Project.
Its focus is developing a rapid transit network, walking and cycling, safety, and growth - and planning a new harbour crossing.
Mayor Phil Goff says the region really needs to work towards better infrastructure.
He says the package won't do everything ... but is a step in the right direction, with priority given to key transport challenges.
