Auckland's Takapuna town centre is feeling the impact of people working from home

Auckland's Takapuna town centre is feeling the impact of people working from home

Takapuna Beach Business Association says parking availability and pedestrian counts show about 20 to 30 per cent less office workers in the centre on an average day.

Chief Terence Harpur says it's busy on evenings and weekends but retailers are feeling the absence in the daytime.

He says total retail spend was down 76.8 per cent last week, compared to the same week last year.

Harpur says they're encouraging everyone to get back to the office as soon as possible and to support fellow business people.
