The Government's taking urgent action after hundreds were removed from the Child Sex Offender Register

It comes after a Supreme Court decision last month that found the current Child Protection Act isn't clear enough.
It meant the Act doesn't apply to a person who committed a qualifying offence before the law came into force in 2016, but was convicted and sentenced after.

Police Minister Poto Williams says an amendment introduced today will ensure those who were intended to be on the register, will remain on it.
