The Black Caps have made a strong start to their one-day international cricket series against Bangladesh, with an eight wicket win in the first match in Dunedin

The home side made a statement early on after electing to bowl first.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 131 with eight overs to spare - with Mahmud Ullah top scoring with 27.

Trent Boult was the best of the Black Caps bowlers, taking four for 27.

Martin Guptill lead the run chase for the home side scoring a quick fire 38, followed by Henry Nicholls' 49 not out.

The Black Caps finished 132-2 after 21 overs.

Boult told Spark Sport he's satisfied with his team's performance.
