The Crown is hoping to introduce new evidence against Peter Ellis' posthumous appeal hearing later this year
25 March 2021
A new complainant claims Ellis sexually assaulted her while baby sitting her when she was four, in the eighties.
Ellis was found guilty in 1993 of abusing children at the Christchurch Civic Creche.
He died in 2019 but his case is continuing and was before the Supreme Court today.
The Crown says it wants to use this evidence ... to determine whether original evidence in the case was reliable enough.
The full appeal will be held in October.
