An e-waste expert says we need to rethink our addiction to cheap electronics

A blender sold by Kmart failed within one week -- during testing by Consumer New Zealand -- despite coming with a 12 month warranty.
The advocacy group is now recommending Kmart to stock parts, rather than just refunding or replacing products.
Computer Recycling managing director Patrick Moynahan says consumers also need to reconsider whether cheap electronics are worth it in the first place.
He says consumers should be buying higher quality goods, and retailers need to stop trying to pump so many cheap goods out the door.
