The Suez canal is still at a standstill as a 400 metre boat remains wedged between Africa and Asia

The Suez canal is still at a standstill as a 400 metre boat remains wedged between Africa and Asia

Crews are working around the clock to unblock the canal which usually has 10 billion dollars worth of cargo moving through each day.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the blockage, but it's thought human error, technical problems and high winds are responsible.

CNN international correspondent Ben Wedeman says executives from the company that owns the boat have apologised.

He says that sorry might not be enough considering the steadily rising costs incurred by companies affected.
