    A warning from police after a good samaritan was assaulted and robbed near Queenstown


    The victim pulled over on the Eastburn Road layby on the Crown Range Road about 10.30pm on Friday -- to help a man who appeared to have car trouble.

    He was then assaulted and the offender took off with his backpack.

    Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw says it's a terrible thing to happen to someone trying to help a stranger and it's worrying for the local community.

    Anyone who saw or knows anything is asked to call police on 105.
