A government decision on the trans-Tasman bubble can't come soon enough for Queenstown

A government decision on the trans-Tasman bubble can't come soon enough for Queenstown

An announcement is due on April 6th, but it's too late for 23 businesses in the town, which have already closed.

Chamber of Commerce CEO Ruth Stokes says some other businesses have shed 90 percent of their staff.

She says they're hanging on, but at least one operation every week is closing its doors.

Stokes says people are at their wits' end, and hoping it won't be another announcement about an announcement.

Around a third of businesses don't expect to last the next three months.
