Robert Armistead appeared in Waitakere District Court for a judge-alone trial, after denying charges laid under the council Public Safety and Nuisance Bylaw.
He'd previously pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching track closure restrictions.
Armistead was caught several times by an infrared bush camera on closed tracks in the Waitakere Ranges, in breach of restrictions designed to protect the native trees.
He'll be sentenced in May and could be fined up to 60-thousand dollars.
