The 16 inmates involved in the action have filed claims of human rights abuses against the Corrections Chief executive and the Attorney-General, assisted by the Maori Party.
They allege racist treatment, serious violence and harsh conditions.

He says the Ombudsmen and the Human Rights Commission have also issued reports on the prison's conditions.
