Police say they want to ensure everyone enjoys their long weekend holiday plans and returns home safely.
National Road Policing Centre acting director Inspector Pete Jones says driving impaired contributes to about a third of fatal crashes.
He says if you are going to have a few drinks then organise a sober driver, or some alternative means of transport to get you home.
Inspector Jones also says there's no text or phone call that's so important it's worth risking your life for.
