Auckland Central City Library is closed until further notice for building repairs

Auckland Central City Library is closed until further notice for building repairs

The waterproof layers on the surface of the 50-year-old building are being replaced.

This involves breaking off the concrete surface, grinding the old waterproof membranes and laying a new one.

There are several layers to go through on the roof of the Lorne St building, and the project is expected to take until the end of the year.

The library was temporarily closed 2 weeks ago after reports of an unpleasant odour, before reopening a few days later.
