A new food donation warehouse has opened on Auckland's North Shore

KiwiHarvest salvages goods from businesses who are getting rid of food, and donates it to local community organisations.

The company's now opened its new premises in Rosedale, despite it being considered a high socioeconomic area.

CEO Gavin Findlay says the belief that people in that area don't need support, is a common misconception.

He says food insecurity occurs all over the Auckland region.
