Hopes Fonterra will streamline how farmers buy and sell units

Hopes Fonterra will streamline how farmers buy and sell units

    Fonterra
    Fonterra
The dairy co-op's halted trading on the New Zealand and Australian sharemarkets, as well as the Fonterra Shareholders' Market, until Friday.

Fonterra says it'll give shareholders and unit holders a full day to consider options for streamlining its capital structure.

The Farmers' Weekly's Hugh Stringleman says they want better processes for when retiring farmers want to sell their shares.

He says it's become unwieldy and complicated and they've been asking for a simpler way of doing it.
