Concerns new and trainee teachers aren't getting a full understanding of the basics

Education bodies are calling for an overhaul of primary teaching qualifications.

Normal and Model School Association President, Stuart Armistead, says many graduates study teaching for just one year.

He says that is not enough.

He says you can't expect trainee teachers to be ready for the classroom in that time.
