    A T20 cricket tournament which was advertised as being held in Sri Lanka last June during the Covid-19 pandemic, has been exposed as a scam set up 2600 kilometres away in northern India for the purpose of illegal sports betting


    The Guardian reports a business syndicate decided to stage the League, using fake Sri Lankan advertising hoardings and pseudonym-ed players.

    The move to create a ghost event came about because fixers' incomes were as affected by a lack of cricket as other paid stakeholders in the game.
