Neither team took the field competitively last night, seeing no change to England's score of 111 for two in reply to New Zealand's 378 after two days.
Bowling coach Shane Jurgensen says there's plenty of time to get a result out of the match, and believes they have an edge.
Day four is set to begin at 10pm from Lord's.
Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson have taken New Zealand's two wickets so far.
