A courageous Rory Burns has handed England something to savour after a fourth day in the first test that went largely in favour of the Black Caps

New Zealand's bowling attack, led by Tim Southee who took six wickets, hounded the English batters early in the day before ultimately dismissing them for 275.

However, Burns stuck around to plunder 132 after the hosts were reduced to 140 for six at one point.

Southee says Burns got the better of them mentally at times.

At stumps the Black Caps are 62 for two for a lead of 165 runs at Lord's.
