A coronial inquest has begun into the death of a man crushed between a swing loader trailer and a shipping container in 2016

He was working at a Mount Maunganui Port of Tauranga site leased to Coda Operations Limited Partnership.
The employer was fined and paid more than a hundred thousand dollars compensation to the man's whanau, after a Worksafe investigation and criminal court case.
The plant manufacturer was also fined.
Today at Tauranga District Court Coroner Matthew Bates has apologised for the delay in getting to this point.
