The man was convicted in the Christchurch District Court last Friday on charges including operating an aircraft in a manner that caused endangerment.
During a take-off from a beach north of Milford Sound in 2010 the propeller was hit by stones.
The pilot later reported the damage to head office, but flew the tourists after filing the propeller.
CAA Deputy CEO David Harrison says engineers should assess damage.
