A warning from the Covid-19 Response Minister -- even completing the vaccine roll-out may not save us from further lockdowns and alert level changes

A warning from the Covid-19 Response Minister -- even completing the vaccine roll-out may not save us from further lockdowns and alert level changes

New modelling shows we'll need an 83-percent vaccination rate, to remove restrictions.

Chris Hipkins says the decision to exclusively use the Pfizer vaccine, means it'll take longer to immunise the whole population.

But he says even when we're fully vaccinated, New Zealand may not return permanently to Level Zero.

Hipkins says the vaccine may prevent people from getting sick with the virus and spreading it to others, but keeping ahead of new variants could be challenging.
