An eight-year-old boy is lucky to have escaped injury -- after finding himself dangling from a chairlift on Mount Hutt

The child slipped out of the new eight-seater chairlift -- and was left dangling five metres above the ground -- while visiting the skifield yesterday.

A video shot by a bystander shows the boy was caught by a group of people below.

He was shaken by the ordeal -- but wasn't injured.
