A biosecurity company's been fined nearly 250-thousand dollars, after a Kiwi employee was injured on an international ship

In 2019, a Genera Limited employee fell two-metres off a log stack on a Panama ship, severely breaking his leg.
It was nine hours before he was found.
Tauranga District Court fined the company -- and ordered it to pay the worker reparation and for emotional harm.
Maritime NZ says it's a significant prosecution ... that shows a Kiwi employer is accountable for staff safety outside the country.
