Fire crews remain at the scene of a large factory fire in east Auckland
29 July 2021
A section of Ti Rakau Drive in Burswood, next to Pakuranga, was closed during rush-hour traffic last night, after a plastics factory went up in flames about 5pm.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze about three hours later, allowing the road to partially reopen.
However, one of the westbound lanes of Ti Rakau Drive remains closed, as firefighters continue to monitor for hot spots.
Fire and Emergency says it will remain at the scene until at least daylight.
There are no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
