The West Coast Regional Council's embattled chief executive has resigned

Vin Smith has quit just seven months after starting the role - following three months on gardening leave.
He's been on personal leave since late April after a clash with the council's chairman Allan Birchfield.
Leaked emails reveal Smith had sought advice about alleged bullying behaviour and interference by the chairman.
