The number of potential contacts of Covid-19 cases could continue to climb

A student who later tested positive for Covid-19 attended an Auckland University ball of 500 people.

It's understood the university student was at a ball for the its Waiparuru Hall at the Aotea Centre last Saturday night.

The university's Craccum magazine published a list of the student's movements this afternoon which include its city and Grafton campuses.

In an email to staff last night, vice-chancellor Dawn Freshwater says a student living at Whitaker Block attended classes on Monday and Tuesday this week.

They then travelled to Wellington to be with family before testing positive.

A bar worker at Spark Arena has also previously tested positive for Covid-19.

About 1,000 people who attended the Mitre 10 Awards last Thursday, and another 1,000 people who attended a Bayleys Realty conference last Friday have been told they are close contacts.
