Auckland's Mayor says the region will need ongoing Government support to stay locked down

Auckland's Mayor says the region will need ongoing Government support to stay locked down

The Prime Minister yesterday revealed it's likely Auckland will remain at Alert Level Four for a further two weeks.

All of New Zealand, except for Auckland and Northland, will move down to Level Three at 11.59-pm on Tuesday.

Covid-19 cases in Auckland reached 333 yesterday -- while 14 cases hoped to be contained are in Wellington.

Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says the continuation of the wage subsidy scheme will be important.

He says Auckland Transport also needs assistance - as it has to keep essential services going without fares to offset costs.

Cabinet will meet again on Monday to discuss the Alert Level settings.
